About Us
History:
The Bowmen of Sherwood were founded in 1956 as the archery section of Rolls-Royce Social Club at Hucknall Aerodrome where the Aero Engine Division had set up a Fabrication Facility. Originally open only to employees and their families, we now welcome allcomers. Current Membership is about 45 ladies, gentlemen and juniors shooting recurve bows, compounds and longbows according to GNAS target archery rules.
Venue:
In Summer (April - Sept), we still shoot at Hucknall Aerodrome on Watnall Road in Hucknall, but the shooting area is now better known as the playing fields of RRLA. Sessions are normally 5pm - dusk on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Winter (Oct - March) shooting is indoors at Robert Barber Sports Hall, Newthorpe, on Saturdays 2pm - 5pm. Visitors are welcome on production of a current GNAS membership card.
Fees:
Club membership is £50 p.a. and includes compulsory subscription to GNAS.
Outdoor shooting is free. Indoor shooting costs £2 per adult per session.
